The diagnostic and therapeutic techniques described above (3 to 6), as well as echocardiography of newborns, are only performed at the La Paz Medical Center and serve as support to the rest of the Health Institutions.

Since 2017, Cardiac Pacemakers are implanted, the only hospital in Equatorial Guinea where the procedure is performed, in addition to programming and monitoring patients with these devices and other more complex ones, such as Implantable Automatic Defibrillators and Cardio-resynchronizers. 

The Cardiology Service of La Paz Medical Center

  1. Medical consultations (Cardiology, coagulation, electronic devices) hospital and Emergency care.

  2. Echocardiograms for adults and children, including newborns.

  3. Holter (24 and 48 h electrocardiograms)

  4. MAPS (24 hours) for the study of Arterial Hypertension.

  5. Stress test

  6. Pericardiocentesis (in patients with significant pericardial effusions and cardiac tamponades).

When faced with a complex illness such as heart disease, it is important to find the most suitable specialist. A diagnosis of heart or vascular disease often begins with the primary care physician, who refers the patient to a cardiologist.
